Washington: The war of words continue between US and China after U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that China could have stopped the coronavirus outbreak before thw world came into standstill and his administration was conducting “serious investigation” into the matter.
“We’re doing very serious investigations… We are not happy with China,” Trump said a’t a White House briefing, adding, “There are a lot of ways you can hold them accountable.
“We believe it could have been stopped at the source. It could have been stopped quickly and it wouldn’t have spread all over the world,” Trump said.
Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had said that Beijing terribly failed to report the outbreak in a timely manner and concealed the intensity of respiratory illness.
The coronavirus outbreak has killed more than 210,000 people around the world, including more than 56,000 in the United States, according to a Reuters tally.
