Washington: The United States and the European Union have agreed to launch a dialogue on China to address the threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party, said US Sceretary of State Mike Pompeo.

“Enjoyed the discussions today at the German Marshall Fund’s #BrusselsForum. I am excited to announce the U.S. and EU are launching a dialogue on China to address the threats the CCP poses to our common values and way of life,” tweeted Pompeo.

Meanwhile, the United States on Friday slapped visa restrictions on former and current members of China’s ruling Communist Party of China (CCP), whom it deems responsible for what it called ‘evisceration of Hong Kong’s freedoms’.

“President Donald Trump promised to punish the CCP officials responsible for eviscerating Hong Kong’s freedoms. Today, we are taking action to do just that–we’ve announced visa restrictions on CCP officials responsible for undermining Hong Kong’s autonomy and human rights,” tweeted Pompeo.

The development by Trump administration comes at a time when US has been accusing China for the coronavirus outbreak. Also that China got involved in a confrontation with India over the border conflict.

Therefore, the US has started shifting its military from Europe to southeast Asia to ‘counter Chinese threats’.
