Sindh [Pakistan]: The Sindh provincial government on Friday announced their decision to file a review petition against the Pakistan Supreme Court’s verdict to acquit terrorist Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, the prime convict in the kidnapping and murder of US Journalist Daniel Pearl.
The Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah in a statement said, “The government has decided to go for a review on the orders of the Supreme Court. Omar Sheikh has admitted his involvement in the Daniel Pearl murder case”. Reportedly, the Pakistan federal government is in contact with the Sindh government over the matter.
The 38-year old US journalist of The Wall Street Journal was kidnapped and beheaded in 2002. He was in Pakistan to complete a story of terror group’s links to Al-Qaeda. The prime accused Omar Sheikh have been in jail for the past 18 years.
