German President Frank Walter Steinmeier received his first shot of AstraZeneca vaccine against Coronavirus as the Government struggles to rebuild confidence in the drug.
“I trust vaccines that were approved in Germany. Today I received my first dose of AstraZeneca shot. Vaccination is the decisive step on the way out of the pandemic. Use the opportunities! Join in!” he said in a statement.
German Health Minister Jens Spahn and the 16 state health ministers on Tuesday ( decided to suspend the routine use of the AstraZeneca vaccine for people under age 60. This decision was taken amid fresh concern over unusual blood clots reported in few younger people who received the vaccine.
