Following the landfall of the severe cyclonic storm Yaas on Wednesday, the National Disaster Management Force(NDRF) have scaled up the rescue operation in Odisha and West Bengal.
The NDRF officials said that a total of 113 teams of the Force, the highest ever number of the team for cyclones, have been deployed in five states and a Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar as part of its preparation and response to the cyclone.
All teams are constantly carrying out rescue and restoration work post-cyclone in coordination with State and district administration, they added.
Besides, hundreds of stranded persons were also rescued in the state of West Bengal while three persons were also saved from drowning. NDRF has evacuated thousands of people to safer places in close coordination with local administration in both states.
