Columbo: Riots are rising in Sri Lanka where the protesters rushed into the house of the President, Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Thousands of protestors have arrived at his house and the security forces could not manage to control them. A local media reported that Rajapaksa has left the nation.
Sri Lanka is in a big economic crisis. Scarcities of food, fuel, unavailability of foreign currencies and inflation have raised the intensity of the crisis. The fuel supply in the nation has almost stopped and the opposition parties and people are protesting since the last few months. Huge riots are spreading across the nation.
The police and military forces are helpless in controlling the masses, who gathered there. The government had imposed a curfew ahead of the protests demanding Rajapaksa’s resignation. With this, It is being assessed that Sri Lanka is moving towards a situation where the President has to resign.
