Colombo: In midst of the extreme financial crisis, the protestors recovered 17.85 million Sri Lankan rupees from the official residence of the president. Around thousands of protestors stormed into his sea shore residence.
The local media reported the news yesterday and related footages were spread across the social media platforms too. In order to count the currencies, the protestors handed over the money to the military forces.
After 1948, the country is now moving through its worst economic crisis. Sri Lanka is facing extreme poverty and fuel shortage. The situation became even worse during the substantial devaluation of Sri Lankan currency. It is the government’s lack of interest in saving the country from the crisis that made people angry and led them to the streets.
Such huge sum of money was found in the president’s residence when the government and the people are facing issues to repay the funds and to meet the necessary living requirements.
