China: After a short break, Covid has been spreading in China. Tests that were held recently had found a new omicron variant, BA.5, that has a huge capacity to spread the virus in no time.
The new omicron variant has been identified from intense tests that took place in 9 provinces in the last two days. According to reports, the new variant is spreading across the Shanghai province, the financial capital of China.
Chinese officials recently claimed that the pandemic has been wiped out from their nation completely. And now, China has tightened strict control after the huge rise in Covid cases.
Shavo, an official from Shanghai health commission, has informed that the people in the region will undergo two levels of testing in background of the spread of the new variant. He also said that the vaccination also has the power to resist the new variant.
BA.5 was first identified in a 37 year old passenger who had been travelling in a flight from Uganda to Shanghai.
