Tokyo: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Tokyo to attend the funeral ceremony of Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Many dignitaries including the representatives of 100 nations and 20 national leaders will attend the function.
“I am traveling to Tokyo tonight to participate in the State Funeral of former PM Shinzo Abe, a dear friend and a great champion of India-Japan friendship”, PM tweeted.
On 8th July, Abe was assassinated while giving a campaign speech in Nara, Japan. India observed a day of mourning on 9th July.
Narendra Modi will meet Fumio Kishida the Prime Minister of Japan and also meet Akie, Abe’s wife. Later he will participate in the funeral ceremonies arranged at Akasaka Palace in Badokan.
Late Prime Minister of Japan and Narendra Modi were close friends and their friendship made the Indo-Japan relationship stronger. Their cooperation during the time of the pandemic was also remarkable.
