Ouagadougou: Captain Ibrahim Trarore has been elected as the new President of Burkina Faso. The nation has also announced that Trarore was elected as the superior head of the armed forces. This is the second military coup held within the last nine months.
On 30th September, the former President Paul Henry Damiba was expelled from the position by the army under the leadership of Ibrahim Trarore. Trarore said that the action was taken due to the failure of Damiba to control the armed rebellion that took place in the country.
After taking up the position, Trarore had addressed the nation.
The former President, Damiba, attained the position on 24th January. The force under his leadership had expelled Roach Kaborin, who had been the President for the last six years.
