San Miguel: 18 people were killed in the shooting in Mexico. The Mayor were killed in the shootout by armed assailants in the city of San Miguel last day afternoon. Mayor Conrado Mendoza, his father and former mayor Juan Mendoza, and seven municipal police officers were among those killed.
A criminal group called Los Tequileras has claimed responsibility for the shooting. The PRD party, represented by slain mayor Conrado Mendoza, strongly condemned the attack. In a statement the party demanded that the authorities should intervene to end the violence in the region and should provide justice to the victims.
Similar violence has reportedly been repeating in Mexico for the past few days. On 21 September, 10 people were killed in a shooting by a group of attackers in Guanajuato. The Ministry of National Defense has announced that troops will be sent to the problem prone areas if the violence continues.
