New Delhi: Afghanistan gets permission for cultivation of opium to increase the drug production. The Narcotics Control Board informed that the cultivation is targeting neighbouring countries including India. In the annual study report of the UN’s Office of Drugs and Crime, it is said that after the outbreak of the pandemic, 37 percent of the opium cultivation has increased.
The warning was given on the basis of reports that disclosed the massive spread of drugs after the year 2020. Five percent of drugs received from different regions of the world were from Afghanistan.
88 percent of drugs seized from India are from Afghanistan. The production of drugs takes place in disguise of the production of medicine. Those drugs are being transported to neighbouring countries including India and Sri Lanka.
Recently it was found that the drugs seized from Kochi and Mumbai were from Afghanistan. The permission for opium production has been given after the announcement that informs the usage and selling of drugs will be stopped in the reign of Taliban.
