Beijing: Senior leader and former Chinese President Hu Jintao was escorted out of the closing ceremony of a congress of the ruling Communist Party today. Jintao, 79, was seated to the left of Xi Jinping and was lifted up by party officials. The party has not given any explanation for this action. Hu Jintao was led off the stage of the main auditorium of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Hu Jintao was the former chairman of the Chinese Communist Party and the president of China from 2003 to 2013. Hu Jintao came to Xi Jinping during the Party Congress and spoke to him. Xi Jinping shook his head in denial, and right after that the party officials arrived and took Hu Jintao out. Jintao, who refused to go out, was forced out by the officials.
The Chinese Communist Party’s treatment of an elderly former party chairman has become a main topic in the international media. Political observers point out that this is a general characteristic of communist parties all over the world.
