Doha: Lionel Messi made a crucial announcement after winning the world title for Argentina. He said that he will not retire and will play for Argentina’s national team. The announcement after winning the world cup added more flavours to the celebrations. Messi’s words comforted football fans around the world.

” No, I am not retiring from the Argentina national team. ”I want to continue playing as a champion,” Messi said. Messi added that he is hopeful that Argentina will win in the upcoming tournament.

The 35-year-old Messi’s announcement on his retirement left his fans sad. But the player says that he will not retire from the jersey of Argentina and will not stop playing.

Argentina lifted the cup for the third time by defeating France by 4-2 in the shootout in the Qatar Football World Cup. The world title that slipped from his hands in 2014 has come to Messi’s hands in 2022. After the match was tied at 3-3 in the extra time, the match got extended to the penalty shootout.

Lionel Messi won the Golden Ball for the best player in the World Cup while Kylian Mbappe won the Golden Boot for the player with the most goals. Messi also holds the all-time record for playing the most World Cup matches.
