Bangkok: A Thai Navy warship collapsed in a storm that occurred in the Gulf of Thailand on Sunday night. Efforts are still going on to save the life of the 33 sailors on board. The Navy said warships and helicopters were deployed at the crash site and nearby areas to search for the soldiers.
The warship HTMS Sukhothai was met with an accident. The ship sank due to engine failure. There were 106 people on the ship. Despite bad weather, the army managed to rescue 73 people overnight. The Navy is trying to find the remaining 33 people.
No deaths have been reported so far. But the condition of three rescued employees is critical. Officials say that the water entered and the hull of the ship drowned. The power room short-circuited after water entered the ship. The Sukhothai is a US-built warship in service since 1987.
