Bangkok: A warship of the Thai Navy Sukhothai has sunk in the Gulf of Thailand. Around 106 people were there inside the warship at the time of the incident. About 75 people have been rescued so far, while 31 people are still stranded, the Navy said. The efforts still continue to rescue them.
The accident happened on Sunday evening while patrolling the sea. Due to strong winds, water entered the ship and damaged the electrical systems. Attempts were made to pump the sea water out, but failed. Several warships and helicopters are still involved in the rescue operation. The accident occurred in an American-built warship used by the Thai Navy since 1987.
