Gilgit: When food shortage reached its peak, people of Occupied Kashmir protested in the streets with slogans against the Government. The public protested when grains and daily essentials including wheat became insufficient. Pakistan has recently stopped subsidized wheat and this made the situation worse.
The food shortage is acute in Bagh and Muzaffarabad, the main centres of the region. There is a severe shortage of daily needed items, fruits and vegetables. The main slogan raised by the people is that the government of Pakistan should respond to their situation.
Raja Farooq Haider, the former Prime Minister of Occupied Kashmir had criticized the Pakistan government the last day. He had said that the Pakistan government should not force the people to flee from the valley. A video was also released yesterday in which the people of the occupied Kashmir demanded that the region should be merged with India.
