London: United Kingdom enters into a new era, as Charles III is crowned king today. The coronation which occurred after seven decades has made history today. King Charles III will be the oldest ever monarch to sit at the throne.
The coronation ceremony successfully concluded at the Westminster Abbey, with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby crowning Charles III and his wife, Camilla as king and queen. Crown prince William has sworn allegiance to the king as well.
The congregation chanted, “God save our gracious king” as King Charles walked out of Westminster Abbey. The king and queen will be taken on coronation procession which will end at the Buckingham Palace. The procession is estimated to have nearly 4,000 UK armed force personnel.
US President, Joe Biden congratulated the new king and queen via twitter while first lady Jill Biden represented US at the coronation ceremony.
