Birmingham: Reports say that radical Islamists led by a man named Shakeel Afsar tried to disrupt the screening of the movie ‘The Kerala Story’ in a theater at Birmingham in United Kingdom. Shakeel Afsar is an anti-India activist advocating the freedom of Kashmir.
The unruly group barged into the theater and began shouting and bullying the audience. However, the audience refused to give in to the radical elements and shouted back at them. This forced the radical Islamists to back out and they were eventually escorted out of the theater.
Videos of the attack show Shakeel Afsar and his group trying to force the people out of theaters by harassing them.
It is reported that shows of the movie in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam were cancelled in 31 theaters in the United Kingdom. However, this move has created massive outrage from Indians living in that country. Some social media users say that the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) was trying to pander to ‘certain groups’ by withholding the movie.
Despite all the protests, The Kerala Story has crossed the Rs.200 crore mark in collection at the box office.
