Islamabad: Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, fearing stronger retaliation from India, has requested India for peace and dialogue. The offer comes after one of its F-16 was shot down in an air battle with Indian fighter jets. The country was also uneasy after losing support in the international community.
Pakistan’s fear of Indian response was visible in Imran Khan’s address today. The Pakistani Prime Minister cited World War I and the US war on terrorism that got out of hand and was a result of miscalculation.
He said, “If this escalates, things will no longer be in my control or in Modi’s.”
Pakistan’s offer of peace is widely seen as sign of the country’s incapability to respond effectively to India’s attacks.
India’s airstrikes to avenge Pulwama attack and the strong support that the international community has showered on India has come as a realization to the Pakistani leadership that an open conflict is not to their advantage.
