New York: In a recent statement, Tesla CEO Elon Musk expressed his intention to visit India in the coming year. He conveyed his confidence that Tesla would establish its presence in the country “as soon as humanly possible.” Musk shared these remarks with reporters outside the Lotte New York Palace after a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has embarked on a historic four-day state visit to the United States.
Following his meeting with Elon Musk, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to twitter to share his thoughts. He tweeted, “Great meeting you today @elonmusk! We had multifaceted conversations on issues ranging from energy to spirituality.”
During the conversation with reporters, Musk praised PM Modi’s leadership and expressed gratitude for his support. He indicated that there were strong possibilities for a significant investment in India. Recognising PM Modi’s efforts to promote inclusive technology and develop digital infrastructure, Musk commended his commitment to ensuring that such initiatives benefit India. Musk expressed his admiration for PM Modi, stating, “I am a fan of Modi.”
Musk highlighted India’s potential for a sustainable energy future, emphasising the three pillars: sustainable energy generation, primarily through solar and wind; the feasibility of generating electricity with minimal land usage; and the efficient storage of renewable energy. He underscored the country’s capacity to embrace these pillars and implied that India held great promise in these areas.
Additionally, Musk mentioned that Tesla would likely finalise the selection of a location for its manufacturing facility in India by the end of this year.
Overall, Musk’s remarks indicate his optimism about Tesla’s entry into the Indian market and his appreciation for PM Modi’s support in facilitating the company’s endeavours.
