Islamabad: An Islamic scholar was tragically shot and killed in Karachi, Pakistan. Pakistani media outlet ARY News has reported that Sheikh Zia ur Rehman, a 46-year-old cleric, was fatally shot and killed, as confirmed by the police. The local police are actively investigating this tragic incident. Sheikh Zia ur Rehman met a tragic end when assailants shot him dead in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi. Notably, he also held the position of administrator at the Jamia Abu Bakar Madrasah in Gulshan Block 5, Karachi. This incident has left the community deeply saddened and concerned about the safety and security of religious scholars in the region.
The police have characterised the murder as premeditated, signalling their intention to conduct a thorough investigation into the case. During their initial examination of the crime scene, authorities discovered 11 spent bullet shells, a 9 mm pistol, and other weapons, providing important evidence for the ongoing investigation into this tragic incident. Earlier this month, another tragic incident occurred in Karachi’s Bilal area, where religious scholar Salim Khatri fell victim to a fatal shooting by four individuals riding motorcycles. The investigation into this murder is still ongoing.
