Tel Aviv: The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated on Saturday that the Palestinian people are not their enemies. The IDF also clarified that their counterattacks are exclusively aimed at Hamas terrorists. Israel has issued warnings to the residents of Gaza to evacuate the area. Following these warnings, the defense forces reiterated their commitment to not target innocent Palestinian civilians.
“We advertised our intentions in advance not because it has any military logic but because we want civilians not to be affected by the war. We didn’t put those civilians there and they are not our enemy. We are not trying to kill or injure any civilians, we are fighting against Hamas and its military infrastructure…that’s where we targeted around the Gaza strip and in the northern part of the Gaza strip,” Israeli Defence Forces Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus said in a statement.
In the past 24 hours, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted extensive inspections of Hamas facilities in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later stated that the attacks against Hamas were just the beginning. Netanyahu’s response came after the Israel Defense Forces escalated its offensive in Gaza, deploying tens of thousands of troops near the Gaza border.
U.S. President Joe Biden described Hamas’ actions as more heinous than those of Al-Qaeda. He pointed to the destructive methods employed by Hamas to underscore his point, stating that Hamas symbolizes evil. He emphasized that there was no mistake in the decision to combat them and pledged strong support for Israel.
