Tel Aviv: The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has presented compelling evidence to refute allegations that the Israeli army was responsible for the explosion at al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City. Instead, they assert that the Gaza-based terrorist organization known as Islamic Jihad was behind the incident. According to reports from the Gaza Health Ministry spokesman, hundreds of people lost their lives in the tragic blast at the hospital in Gaza on Tuesday, as reported by Reuters.
Addressing the media regarding the Gaza hospital blast, Jonathan Conricus, the spokesperson for the Israeli Defence Forces, confirmed that Islamic Jihad was responsible for a failed rocket launch that inadvertently struck the hospital in Gaza.
“It was actually at 7 p.m. yesterday was that a rocket fired by another terrorist organization, called Islamic Jihad misfired, partially exploded in the air, and landed and exploded on the ground close to that hospital in Gaza City,” Jonathan said.
“We have been able to reach that conclusion by looking at radar footage, by analyzing our own activity to make sure that we did not have any military activity in that area at that time, and also by looking at visuals, a UIV footage that we have now taken and analysed to see and confirm that it was not an Israeli strike, and by collaborating with other sources’ information indicating that it was in fact a misfire by other terrorists,” the spokesperson said.
He further added that the malfunctioning rocket, originally intended to target Israeli civilians, tragically led to the hospital blast, which is also evident in the Al-Jazeera footage as well.
Another IDF spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, also confirmed that Islamic Jihad was responsible for the Gaza Hospital blast by sharing visual evidence related to the failed rocket launch by the terrorist group on X.
