Muzaffarabad: Despite adverse weather conditions, a significant number of students in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) have taken to the streets to express their concerns regarding issues such as injustice, inflation, high unemployment rates, and extremism in the region.
Among the central demands voiced by the students is the fulfillment of a promise made by Pakistan in 1962 to provide free electricity to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Additionally, they are calling for subsidies on essential food items. These issues serve as pitiful symbols of the economic challenges and disparities faced by the residents of PoK.
The protestants, including women, men, students, trade unions, and members of civil society, actively participate in the demonstrations. The people of PoK aim to draw attention to their grievances, seeking meaningful reforms and improvements in their living conditions. Their efforts represent a unified call for change and progress in the region.
