Tel Aviv: A report in the ‘The Jerusalem Post’ said that Hamas terrorists, who carried out deadly attack against Israel on October 7, were induced with Captagon, a synthetic amphetamine-type stimulant. The pills were found in the pockets of many terrorists who were killed in the attack. This same synthetic drug was used by ISIS terrorists.
According to the report, Captagon is used by terrorists to carry out heinous acts with a sense of calmness and indifference. It also helped them to stay highly alert for a long duration and to block their appetite. The drug is produced in southern Europe and taken through Turkey and sold in the Arabian Peninsula. Captagon is popularly called the “cocaine for the poor” because of its ease of manufacture. In poor countries it can be bought for a dollar or two and enjoys a huge market in Middle East.
The drug is now distributed by Lebanon and Syria. The report said that Gaza is a popular market for Captagon, especially among addicted young individuals.
As a testimony to the influence of the drug on the terrorists, the forensic team in Israel revealed that the Hamas terrorists inflicted extreme torture and brutality against innocent Israeli civilians during their attack on October 7. The dead bodies bore the signs of torture, rape and other atrocities. Many bodies were tied and burned together. There are reports that many were beheaded mercilessly.
Hamas terrorists were able to kill 1400 civilians in the attack and took about 200 people as hostages. The victims include citizens from countries across the globe.
