Beijing: Two weeks after the start of the conflict between Israel and Palestine, which has killed thousands, China has, for the first time, clarified its stance. China maintains that Israel has the right to defend itself. The issues were discussed during a conversation between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen.
According to Chinese media, Wang Yi stated that all nations have the right to self-defense, and he emphasized the importance of proceeding in accordance with international law while protecting civilians. He also stressed that China has no selfish interests in this matter and expressed a genuine desire for the resolution of problems between Israel and Palestine. China is willing to support any efforts for peace and intends to work toward a solution to the issues between the two countries.
This marks the first time that China has made a statement acknowledging Israel’s right to defend itself against the Hamas terrorist organization that launched the attack.
Last week, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for an urgent ceasefire to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Israel also openly expressed its dissatisfaction with China’s stance.
