Tel Aviv: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office officially announced on Wednesday that Israel’s cabinet has approved a deal for the multi-day ceasefire in exchange for the release of approximately 50 hostages who were abducted by the Hamas terror group during the October 7 attack in Gaza, as reported by The Times of Israel.

Not all details of the agreement have been formally released to the public, but an Israeli government official briefing reporters on Tuesday said that in exchange, Israel has agreed to a ceasefire for at least four days for the first time since the outbreak of the war, as reported by The times of Israel

In a statement issued after the decision, the Prime Minister’s office emphasized the government’s commitment to bringing all the abductees home. “The Israeli government is committed to bringing all the abductees home. Tonight, the government approved the outline for the first stage of achieving this goal, under which at least 50 abductees—women and children—will be released over a span of four days, during which there will be a lull in the fighting,” the statement read.

However, The Times of Israel reported that the statement does not disclose any details about other concessions Israel is believed to have made, such as the release of Palestinian prisoners and the allowance of additional fuel and humanitarian aid to Gaza.
