Tel Aviv: Today marks the beginning of a four-day temporary ceasefire in Gaza, as declared by Qatar, which began at 7 am local time. This ceasefire announcement by Qatar includes plans for the release of hostages, with the initiation of the release expected within hours of the ceasefire taking effect. Notably, 13 individuals are slated for release by this evening.
Majed Al-Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Qatar and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted that the ceasefire faced delays the previous day due to uncertainties surrounding the hostage list.
Among the captives, women and children will be freed in the first phase. It is reported that some of the Palestinians imprisoned in Israeli prisons will be released. Approximately 50 prisoners are expected to be released within the span of the four-day ceasefire. However, details regarding the specific location for the handover of the hostages are yet to be clarified.
The initial release includes women and children from the same family. This temporary stop marks a pause in the war that has continued for approximately a month and a half. Furthermore, the ceasefire agreement includes provisions for its extension in case additional hostages are released beyond the initial four days.
