Bengaluru: The third lunar bound orbit maneuver for Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft was performed successfully on Wednesday using the onboard propulsion system, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) confirmed.
The lunar bound orbit maneuver began at 0904 hrs IST and the orbit achieved is 179 km x 1412 km.
The Department of Space also stated that all spacecraft parameters are normal and the next Lunar bound orbit maneuver is scheduled on August 30, 2019, between 1800 – 1900 hrs IST.

This mission shall expand our knowledge about the Moon through a detailed study of its topography, mineralogy, surface chemical composition, thermo-physical characteristics and atmosphere leading to a better understanding of the origin and evolution of the Moon.
