Basel: PV Sindhu clinched the BWF World Championship title after she pulled off a brilliant victory against Nozomi Okuhara in Basel.
Sindhu thrashed Okuhara with 21-7,21-7, simultaneously becoming the first Indian shuttler ever to win the World Championship Title and also the second player ever to win five World Championship medals. In just 38 minutes, Sindhu completely crushed Okuhara to avenge her defeat from the 2017 final.
Sindhu after winning the gold medal at the World Championships said,” I dedicate this medal to my mother. It’s her birthday today.”
Sindhu also expressed her gratitude to her coach Pullela Gopichand. “A big thanks to my coach Pullela Gopichand and my support staff, ” she said.
Sindhu now has a full set of medals at World Championships – two bronze medals, two silver medals and a gold medal. After losing the last two finals, Sindhu finally grabs the gold and becomes an even bigger star of India.
