Melbourne (Australia): Bowler Umesh Yadav has been ruled out of the Test Series against Australia following a calf injury he picked up during the MCG Test.
The visitors who came to the tour without Ishant Sharma, lost Mohammed Shami due to an Arm fracture in the first Test and are without Skipper Virat Kohli who returned back to India after the first Test match.
Umesh Yadav had walked off with a strain in the middle of his fourth over on the third day of the Boxing Day Test. After Yadav got ruled out, among the team’s much vaunted fast bowling attack, only Jasprit Bumra is currently with the team.
T Natarajan is most likely to replace Umesh Yadav in the remaining matches. Meanwhile opener Rohit Sharma rejoined the main squad after his quarantine and is available for selection in the third test.
The four match series is currently tied at 1-1 with the Sydney Test to start on 7 January 2021.
