England won the first test match by 227 runs against India to get a 1-0 lead in the four-match series. India was bowled out for 192 in the second session after captain Virat Kohli’s 72 off 104 balls.
Despite an innings of 72 from Virat Kohli, there was no hope after the loss of five wickets in the first session. Veteran pacer James Anderson (3/17) and left-arm spinner Jack Leach (4/76) shared seven wickets between them to complete a memorable win for England.
Anderson was terrific with his three-wicket burst in seven overs, including four maidens.
“I felt that the intensity of the Indian players was not up to mark and that they didn’t do enough to create pressure on the England team in the first two days of the match,” said Virat Kohli
