It’s World Bicycle Day. Simple, affordable, clean and environmental friendly, that’s something bicycle is all about.
One person who made India proud on the International level with cycling is Aditya Mehta.
Despite severe injury and and warning from doctors to not participate, Aditya listened to his gut feeling and just not participated in the Asian-para Championship but also became the first Indian to win the double silver medal for the country.
From being a cunning businessman to an Asian gold medalist, Aditya has come a long way. He’s actually thankful to the bus driver because of whom he met with an accident and his fate changed.
“If he didn’t run over my leg I would have remained a cunning little businessman and never blossomed into the giving philanthropist that I am today. If I ever meet him I will give him a tight hug and thank him profusely for changing the course of my life and giving me a chance to explore my character and true potential,” said Aditya.
Aditya Mehta founded the Aditya Mehta Foundation and from mere two medals, now the extended family that’s trained in para-cycling and other para-sports has won more than 90 plus international medals.
Someone who has never believed in donation has now been convinced by his own father to give away a huge land for Asia’s first Para sports and Rehabilitation centre of its own.
Life gives us setbacks and challenges, but we need to transform ourselves to meet these challenges.
Happy World Bicycle Day! Keep riding and stay fit.
