Hangzhou: Bharat is basking in the glory of its most remarkable performance ever at the Asian Para Games in China, achieving a staggering 78 medals, which includes 18 gold, 21 silver, and 39 bronze. This achievement marks a significant milestone, surpassing the record set at the 2018 Jakarta Para Games.

This achievement came with Nithya Sri’s bronze medal haul, propelling Bharat to a new level in the medal haul in the Para Games 2023. Notably, Bharat had previously reached the milestone of 100 medals in the Asian Games, and the surge in success is now carrying over to the Para Games.
The journey began in 2010 when Indian athletes secured 14 medals. In 2018, Bharat had impressively added its medal count to 72.
Bharat clinched its first gold in archery. The duo of Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar earned gold in the mixed compound team event, with a remarkable victory over China.
Indian athlete Siddhartha Babu also struck gold in the shooting category, displaying a record-breaking performance. Babu’s gold was achieved in the R6 mixed 50m rifles prone sh-1 event, exemplifying the incredible talent and dedication of Indian para-athletes.
