Johannesburg: In a commanding display, the Indian pacers left South Africa’s batting lineup in tatters, unable to withstand the relentless assault. Arshdeep, who claimed the first five-wicket, delivered a stellar performance, dismantling the Proteas. Avesh Khan also made a significant impact, securing four crucial wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav took the last wicket, bringing an end to South Africa’s innings. The hosts were bowled out for a mere 116 runs in 27.3 overs and South Africa sets a target of 117 runs for Bharat.

Ruturaj Gaikwad faced an early dismissal, falling victim to Wiaan Mulder after scoring just 5 runs from 10 balls. Sai Sudhrashan and Shreyas Iyer  now occupy the crease for Bharat , aiming to build a strong partnership.

Earlier, South Africa’s decision to bat first, after winning the toss, proved to be a significant setback as they could only score 58 runs, and lost seven wickets in just 13 overs in the first ODI against Bharat.

The Proteas’ troubles began early, as Reesa Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen were swiftly dismissed without adding to the scoreboard. Aiden Markram (12), Heinrich Klaasen (6), Wiaan Mulder (0), and David Miller (2) followed suit, leaving Andile Phehlukwayo and Nandre Burger at the crease.

Arshdeep was outstanding in the field, clamming five wickets and breaking down the Proteas’ top order. Avesh Khan also played a key role in taking four important wickets, and Kuldeep Yadav finished things off by taking the last wicket. South Africa was all out for only 116 runs in 27.3 overs.
