Mumbai [Maharashtra]: Former Indian Cricketer and national team selector Saba Karim has come up with his opinion on the speculations and rumors surrounding the captaincy of Virat Kohli. He said that all the discussions going on surrounding his captaincy are quite unwanted.
“To be honest, I feel all such discussions are quite unnecessary. We should feel blessed because we have 2 senior players who can lead the side: Virat Kohli as captain and Ajinkya Rahane as vice-captain. And it is good to have diverse personalities in a team as leaders. One lead with so much aggression, the other is very calm but the result is the same and both are extremely effective. They know how to handle tough situations and how to inspire their colleagues and that’s what India needs at this stage”, said Karim in a statement to Sportskeeda.
He also said that the team management should communicate Virat in order to reduce his pressure as Captain in all three formats. With the T20I World Cup and ODI WC coming up, his mental strength is very important for the team’s success.
The ICC T20I World Cup wil take place this year in India and the Men’s ODI World Cup will take place in 2023.
