Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of State for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan, has come out against the state government for trying to portray Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation into Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scam as harassment by the Central Government.
V Muraleedharan said that the Chief Minister has dubbed the ED investigation into Rs.150 crores Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scam as Central Government hounding. Keep the accusation of Central Government harassment to your-self, the Minister said. It is the poor that are depositing money in Cooperative Banks. After looting the poor people’s money the Chief Minister, Ministers, and the party secretary are justifying it.
Muraleedharan also reminded that one Minister had said Rs.150 crores is a small amount when asked about the cooperative bank scam. The money that was looted was the amount that common people saved for their most important events in their lives.
He asked if former Minister and CPI(M) leader, AC Moideen, is innocent, then why he is hiding around. If he has no role in the Karuvannur Cooperative bank scam then he why don’t he appear in front of the ED and give answers to the agency’s questions. The ED has not taken any fake cases against anyone in similar cases.
The Minister of State added that these robbers are walking in fear of the ED. Once they are arrested then they are behind bars. ED is an agency which moves forward after getting enough evidences.
Muraleedharan said that ED’s questioning and other procedures are caught on camera. Those who have any doubts can approach the courts. Never think that the ED will run away in fear. No one, who is involved in the scam, will be spared, the Minister warned.
