Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India will become one of the world’s major exporters of Defence equipment. He said India is exporting defence equipment to 40 countries.
Speaking at the webinar for effective implementation of Union Budget provisions in the Defence sector, PM Modi said, “India has century-old experience when it comes to making and supplying arms and ammunition. Post-Independence this has changed and we started importing small equipment from other countries and that is not something we can be proud of.”
“Indians don’t lack talent and capabilities. India is capable of producing low-manufacturing and quality products and we can help small countries which look up to India by exporting defence equipment,” said PM Modi.
He further said that the Centre has made a list of 100 items which does not have to be imported and this will make the country ‘Atmanirbhar’ as the manufacturing capability will improve and there will be more jobs.
