Delhi CM announces free Covid vaccination for 18 plus

The Delhi government on Monday announced to provide free COVID-19 vaccines to all those above 18 years of age in the city for which, the purchase of 1.34 crore doses has been approved.

‘In view of exponential rise in COVID cases across the country, we all agreed that the vaccination is the only way forward in fight against the virus. Delhi government has decided to provide free vaccines to all above the age of 18 years. Today, we have given the approval for the purchase of 1.34 crore vaccines. We will try to procure it as soon as possible and administered at the earliest to people,” Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in an online briefing.

On Saturday, Serum Institute of India (SII), which has the licence of AstraZeneca-Oxford University vaccine, announced the rate of vaccine supply to state governments. Now, state has to give Rs 400 per dose for the vaccine.

While Bharat Biotech, manufacturer of Covaxin, has fixed 600 per dose for state governments.

The registration for the third phase of Covid-19 vaccination drive will begin on April 28 for those above the age of 18. Initially, there will be no walk-in registrations for this age group.
