Thiruvananthapuram: Widespread rain is likely in the state today. Yellow alert has been declared in 10 districts. Yellow alert is in the districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Malappuram.
The Central Meteorological Department has informed that in the next 3 hours there is a possibility for rain at isolated places in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod.
A warning has been issued to fishermen. The Central Meteorological Department informed that there is no restriction for fishing along Kerala-Karnataka coasts. According to the Central Meteorological Department, strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph and occasional gusts of up to 60 kmph are likely in the state.
The rains are due to cyclonic circulation in the South East Arabian Sea near the Kerala coast. Cyclonic circulation will form over the North Andaman Sea by tomorrow. According to the assessment of the Meteorological Center, it is likely to reach the Bay of Bengal and strengthen as a low pressure.
