Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rain continues in the state and a yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that in the next three hours, there is a chance for moderate rain in isolated areas of Kollam, Alappuzha, Idukki districts and chances for light rain in other districts. Due to heavy rain, many places have become waterlogged. Aluwa in Ernakulam also receives light rain.
The cause of the current rain is observed to be the cyclonic circulation over the Kerala coast in the southeast Arabian Sea, a cyclonic trough over the Kerala Tamil Nadu coast and another cyclonic circulation over the southwest Arabian Sea. The rain will intensify if a depression forms over the Bay of Bengal.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued in 9 districts tomorrow. Alert issued for districts excluding Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Wayanad.
