Thiruvananthapuram: The state will receive heavy rain today also as a result of the extreme low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal, warned the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). On the basis of this, a yellow alert has been issued to 11 districts. Meanwhile, the extreme low pressure may change to a low pressure or a cyclonic circulation today.
A yellow alert has been issued to Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts. Due to the low pressure the state had received heavy rain yesterday too. Though a yellow alert had been issued to 11 districts, IMD warned other districts also to be cautious.
The extreme low pressure formed in South-West Bay of Bengal along the North coast of Tamil Nadu- Puducherry region is moving to the North- West region. According to IMD, there is a chance for the extreme low pressure passing through Tamil Nadu and Kerala is likely to enter the South- East Arabian sea as a cyclonic circulation.
