Thiruvananthapuram: State likely to receive isolated heavy rain today. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that there is a high chance for heavy rain in all districts within the next three hours. This is an effect of the south-west cyclone that formed in the Bay of Bengal.
Tamil Nadu has also got alert for strong wind and heavy rain due to the entry of the Mandous cyclone in hilly areas. The rain is expected to last for 24 to 36 hours. IMD informed us that the rain that started yesterday will last till Sunday.
As a result Kerala has a chance to receive isolated heavy rain today and tomorrow. Yellow alert has been issued in Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.
Meanwhile, Tamilnadu has issued a holiday for 15 schools and also deployed the disaster management team.
