Chennai: Cyclone Mandous has strengthened in the Bay of Bengal. The cyclone will hit the Tamil Nadu coast by Saturday morning. The Meteorological Center informs that due to the influence of wind, there will be heavy rain including in Kerala.
Cyclone Mandous will weaken to a cyclonic storm in the coming hours. The Meteorological Center informs that it will cross over Tamil Nadu – Puducherry – South Andhra Pradesh at night and will touch between Puducherry and Sriharikota near Mahabalipuram at a speed of 65-75 km per hour. As a result of the impact of the cyclone, there will be heavy rains in Tamil Nadu. Based on this, a red alert has been announced in 13 districts.
Apart from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh will also receive rain. Following this, an orange alert has been issued in the coastal areas. A holiday has been declared for schools in both the states and Puducherry. Disaster management forces have also been deployed in coastal areas. More than two hundred relief camps have also been opened.
