Kochi: Calicut Air Customs Intelligence have seized gold worth Rs.1.20 crores from two persons at Karipur airport. The customs officials arrested Muhammad Sharif, native of Palakkad and Safwan of Malappuram for smuggling gold hidden in their bodies. Four capsules containing 1061 grams of gold were recovered from Muhammad Sharif, while four capsules of 1159 grams were seized from Safwan by the customs officials. The accused arrived at Karipur airport from Jeddah.
A team led by Assistant Commissioner Sinoy K Mathew led the team that nabbed the gold smugglers.
