New Delhi: Bharat will also participate in joint military exercises with ASEAN countries. The Indian Army has begun preparations for a joint military exercise to be held in Vladivostok, Russia from September 25 to September 30. The primary objective of the military exercise is to enhance cooperation, knowledge sharing and strengthen regional cooperation among ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) member states. A meeting of Defense Ministers of ASEAN countries will be held at the same venue.
Defense Ministers from ASEAN member countries namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam will participate in the meeting. Bharat is currently a member of ASEAN’s Expert Working Group. Apart from Bharat, eight countries including Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Russia and the United States will be included in this.
ASEAN has an important place in Bharat ‘s diplomatic relations. ASEAN plays an important role in the country’s Act East policy. This policy aims to strengthen Bharat ‘s strategic and economic ties with Southeast Asian nations. It will help Bharat to increase its political influence in the Indo-Pacific region while expanding trade and economic partnership with member countries.
Bharat ‘s military exercise in ASEAN will strengthen Bharat’s vision of strengthening defense and security cooperation with member states. It will also contribute to the country’s efforts to sustain peace, stability and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
