Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the efforts of the state government in its fight against the novel coronavirus.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi today telephoned CM Uddhav Thackeray & said that Maharashtra was fighting a good battle against the second wave,” the Chief Minister’s office wrote in Marathi on Twitter.
It further said that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has requested PM Modi for giving more strength to the state in terms of oxygen.
The state is currently producing 1,200 metric tonnes of oxygen and gets about 200 metric tonnes from other states.
According to the Maharashtra state health bulletin on Friday, as many as 54,022 new COVID-19 cases and 898 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
