Lucknow: Despite the opposition parties who did everything to derail vaccination programme, the vaccination campaign in Uttar Pradesh is achieving new milestones, claimed chief minister Yogi Adityanath here on Tuesday.
UP has recorded the highest number of doses administered in the last 24-hours. Ahead of Maharashtra, the state of Uttar Pradesh has administered more than 2.79 lakh vaccine doses.
While the opposition leaders are continuously engaged in complaining and spreading misinformation regarding the vaccine, the UP CM is visiting district-to-district and village-to-village appealing people to get their dose of anti-COVID vaccine.
UP CM has also asked the media persons while addressing a press conference in Mirzapur on Tuesday, to generate awareness among people so that inhibitions and misconceptions related to vaccination among people may be dropped.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that vaccination of people in the 18-44 age group against COVID-19 should begin from June 1 in all the 75 districts. Currently, people in the 18-44 age group are being vaccinated in only 23 of the state’s 75 districts.
Vaccination for people in 18+ category began in seven districts on May 1. Among the places where vaccination started were Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Meerut and Bareilly. Since then the government is expanding the drive in a phased manner.
Since May 1, when registrations opened for the category of 18-44, about 12 lakh youths have so far been able to receive a jab in Uttar Pradesh.
