Odisha sees downward trend in COVID cases

Odisha reported 7,188 new covid cases indicating a dip in the covid infections for the last three days as the state has been witnessing a spike of over 10k to 12k cases daily since May 5, 2021.

With fresh 7188 cases, the covid tally in the state surged to 7,47,143 with 6,47,133 recoveries and the fatality has gone up to 2686 with 35 more succumbing to the virus in the past 24 hours.

Health and Family Welfare Department sources said 4,026 positive cases were reported from the quarantine centres and 3,162 local contact cases in the past 24 hours from 30 districts in the state.

For the third consecutive day, the state witnessed a daily covid caseload of below 10k.

Out of 7188 new infections, Khordha district registered the highest number of 1134 cases followed by Cuttack (690), Angul (515), Puri (457) and Jajpur (404). As many as eight districts have reported less than one hundred new cases while five districts registered covid positive cases between 200 to 300.
